Why is the torsorest® device called a body balancer?

Good question. What to call the product, or how to describe it adequately, has been a dilemma from the start.
Of course, the reason for this is that the product is totally new and innovative. There has not been anything like it before and there has not been anything that performed this function, rather like a 'half bed'.

Perhaps we should have described it as a 'half bed', but this doesn't sound too good and doesn't really fit either, you kind of imagine a short or narrow normal bed. Other misnomers might have been, body support, body rest, sleep aid, etc.. These names don't quite do it either, they sound rather pharmaceutical or medical and besides they are already used to describe quite different products and, therefore, have strong existing associations.

No, we had to think of something new, to best describe a new product with a new function. In the context of the human body being constrained to the unsympathetic environment of a seat, we feel the primary function of the torsorest® device is to give the body better posture and bring its various body parts back into balance - hence, it is a 'body balancer'.
